  • eClass Outage Wednesday January 2, 2013 - Thursday January 3, 2013

    We would like to inform you that eClass (powered by Moodle) will be offline from Wednesday January 2, 2013 at 10:00 PM until Thursday January 3, 2013 at 12:00 PM. We will be using this outage to make important changes and perform the lengthy data migration to a new server hosting environment.

    We understand that this is a busy time of year but we could find no other suitable window to coordinate this required change with AICT and our new hosting provider.

    Please do not schedule any activities for the LMS during this period. If you have any questions, please contact ctl@ualberta.ca.

  • eClass Upgrade on July 2nd, 6 AM - Noon

    We would like to inform you that the eClass (Moodle and Blackboard Vista) systems will be offline on Monday July 2nd, 2012 (Canada Day Holiday) from 6:00 AM to noon. We will be using this brief outage to upgrade Moodle to the newer version (2.2.3) and to add/improve a few of our Moodle plug-ins. The following features/improvements will be included with this upgrade:

    • Rubrics are available as a part of the ‘Advanced grading’ module
    • Improvements to how quizzes get submitted and graded
    • Learning activities can now be opened at specific times on access dates
    • A new course format that shows courses a single topic at a time to shorten the course home page content list
    • The course overview block has been enhanced to simplify the course list display and highlight the current/upcoming courses

  • eClass Outage Schedule 2012

    To ensure adequate maintenance of the eClass and eClass Live! services, we are scheduling a monthly maintenance outage on the last Sunday of each month. During each outage we will perform routine maintenance, address any outstanding problems, and add or update plugins as required. The length of each outage will be determined by the complexity of the changes required.

    eClass and eClass Live! may be unavailable during the time slots listed below so plan accordingly.

  • eClass Outage Notification Sunday April 1st 2012

    Dear eClass users,

    We would like to inform you that the eClass (Moodle and Blackboard Vista) systems will be offline this coming Sunday April 1st, 2012 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. We understand that this date might cause some confusion, but please rest assured that this is not a joke. We will be using this brief outage to upgrade a number of Moodle plug-ins. Some of these changes include:

    - Enhancements to the eClass course creation and enrollment plug-in

    - Improvements to the current U of A Moodle theme

    - Improvements to the eClass Live (Elluminate) plug-in

    Dear eClass users,

    We would like to inform you that the eClass (Moodle and Blackboard Vista) systems will be offline on Thursday January 5, 2012 from 8:30 AM to 12:00 noon. We will be using this brief outage to upgrade to a newer version of Moodle which contains some important updates and improves a number of system features. Some of these features include:

    - A newly designed and more robust Moodle question system

    - The ability to restore the course contents from Moodle 1.9 backup files

    - Bug fixes and improvements to security and performance

  • Outdated Support Tickets

    Over the past weekend, several users received duplicate copies of old support tickets previously submitted to elearning@ualberta.ca. These tickets were re-created by our ticketing system when we switched over our email address to gmail as a part of the university’s migration to this new email service.
