Maintenance Outage on Sep 25 from 6:00 AM to Noon

We want to remind you that the eClass (Moodle and Blackboard Vista) systems will be offline for scheduled maintenance on Sunday September 25, 2011 from 6:00 am – noon. During that time we will be applying performance and reliability updates to the system.

Missing eClass Courses?

For the Fall 2011 term, the U of A has begun transitioning to our new campus LMS, eClass Powered by Moodle (for more info on the transition see here).

During the transition, we are running this system in parallel to eClass Powered by Blackboard (WebCT). The new login for the portal for both systems is https://eclass.srv.ualberta.ca/portal/ For your convenience, the eClass link on the U of A homepage now points to this site.

If you are missing any of your eClass courses, check the following :

• Make sure your instructor has chosen to use eClass for this course (some instructors do not to have an online component for their course)
• Make sure you are not using a bookmark from last year to access eClass - this will result in only your eClass powered by Vista courses being displayed
• Make sure that you are not accessing eClass via searching through google - this still shows the old url from last year as Google can take up to 90 days to re-index the site (see image below)
• Make sure that your instructor is using the campus central Moodle - some instructors and departments are still running their own servers independent from eClass (eg. English and Film Studies, Philosophy)

Wrong URL in Google search
