Eclass Live! on autopilot with Elluminate Plan!
Monday, August 24th, 2009While eClass Live! (Elluminate 9.0) has many powerful features to extending the classroom with real-time web conferencing, it can be daunting to manage a multitude of tasks while focusing on facilitating a meeting or delivering a presentation. Many faculty, new to Elluminate, may miss out on many of the features the systems offers. Or, there may be guest presenters who do not have the time to learn the system prior to giving a presentation.
Elluminate recognized the need to provide a means of creating session plans that would guild instructors through activities of a live meeting and automate routine tasks. So faculty can focus on delivering material, facilitating interaction, and optimizing the learning experience, Elluminate Plan! is now available.
Elluminate Plan!, a local application that resides on the user’s system, enables instructors or presenters to organize, script, and package content and activities before a real-time session. Unlike other applications designed for self-paced viewing, Elluminate Plan! is designed specifically for use in a multi-user, multi-language, instructor-led, real-time eLearning environment.
Faculty and meeting facilitators can organize content and interactions ahead of time. Then during an Elluminate Live! session, one can trigger each action, like starting the recording, advancing to the next slide, creating breakout rooms, loading and presenting a quiz, or playing a multimedia file, with a single click.
For Faculty who use eClass Live! sessions extensively as part of their courses, a single Elluminate Plan session file can be distributed so there is consistent delivery by multiple instructors or facilitators. The session plans allow instructors to focus on delivery and interaction with students while automating many of the supporting tasks that make up an eClass Live! meeting.
The University of Alberta through the Vice Provost IT office has secured a 100 seat license for Elluminate Plan version 1.0. It is a local installed application on a client’s system (not a server-based application). Licenses will soon be available through AICT Product Sales for a minimal cost to cover distribution. Users will be able to upgrade to Elluminate Plan Version 2.0 when eClass Live! is upgraded to Elluminate 9.5 later this year.
